Steve Wohleb is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel at the Texas Hospital Association (THA), a role he has held since March 2018. He advises the organization on a wide range of operational and governance issues, supporting THA’s advocacy efforts in several policy areas, and serving as a resource to members on a wide range of issues.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Texas A&M University in 1990 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 1992. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Since 2010, he has also been Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Throughout his career, Steve Wohleb has primarily represented hospitals and other health care providers in a wide range of legal, regulatory, and transactional issues. Prior to joining THA, he served as Associate General Counsel at Ascension Health from 2016 to early 2018. Previously, he held the role of Associate General Counsel at Seton Healthcare Family from 2012 to 2016, following over a decade as Director of Legal and Litigation Services at the same organization. His career began at the law firm Davis & Wilkerson, P.C., where he practiced from 1993 to 2000.
Steve’s legal expertise includes joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions; general and professional liability litigation; medical staff, credentialing and peer review issues; Medicare reimbursement and other federal healthcare program issues; and many other aspects of health care licensing, regulation, and enforcement.
His contributions to THA reflect a dedication to supporting Texas hospitals in navigating the complexities of the healthcare industry.
